Bill Gates and I share at least one common opinion
I am now back in Toronto and had not expected to post any new entries to the Bangkok Blog until my next trip, That is until I saw some news articles that caught my attention.
Some of you might remember an entry I posted a couple of trips back. The entry was called Wires and in it, I discussed the morass of cables and wires that one sees on Bangkok hydro and telephone poles. Those wires are everywhere and make for quite a messy sight.
It seems that I’m not the only one who has made this observation. In some recent news stories, it has been reported that Bill Gates, (the Microsoft guy) also commented on the wiry mess that litters the space above Bangkok sidewalks. Given the similar views expressed on a pretty obscure subject, it seemed appropriate to let you see a couple of the articles (here & here) as well as read about the backlash that his comments elicited.
Bill Gates and I seem to have similar views about Bangkok wiring. The good residents of Bangkok might disagree with our viewpoint, but the wiry mess hanging over our heads, as we walk along the sidewalks of Bangkok, really doesn’t lie.
